5lack
5lack is the (unofficial) terminal Slack, yo
Warning
5lack is considered alpha-quality as of April 2015 is still under development. Using it won’t hurt (i.e., messing up your data or talking nonsense on behalf of you) and I actually use it on a regular basis. However, if in doubt, please report an issue or just check back later.
Introduction
People say that Slack is the new IRC. I agree. Then you’ll need a command-line client to make it more IRC-like, right? And thanks to the awesome blessed library, 5lack supports mouse input (even over SSH).
Install
npm install -g 5lack
- Generate a token at the bottom of the Slack Web API page.
- Run
5lack
with your token as the first argument — just like5lack xoxp-1234567890-0987654321-1234567890-012foo
. If your token is correct, it will be saved to~/.5lack/config.json
.
